sights. Today, the family has received the visit of four men from Liverpool. They have been singing their
hits. After, the family has gone to Buckingham
Palace where an old lady, near 90, had met them to have tea and eat British
cookies. It has been an interesting afternoon.
Finally,
they have gone to Platform 9 ¾ in King’s Cross Station where they've
taken their tickets to travel to Hogwarts
where Harry and his friends are
waiting for them.

when we must choose
between what is easy and what is right.
Tonight, The Holmes are in the theatre watching The Phantom of The Opera. They’re
excited and they’re enjoying the show.
This
morning, the family has received the visit of a mysterious man called Bond, James Bond, who has offered his service to them. The family has
been grateful with him but they needn’t anyone because M. Carmen is a great professional and it’s enough.
They
continue working with their English
classes and they’ve revised The Passive and
some connectors. They’ve worked with long and difficult texts to practise in
better conditions thinking in their future PET
exam.

they’ve studied Third Conditional
and they’ve talked about Ildefons Cerdà,
a very important engineer who created “L’Eixample”
in Barcelona a very beautiful design
plenty of octagonal groups of houses which remind the ancient Roman cities with Cardum and Decumanum.
Great effects do not
always arise from great causes. Small causes especially when they provide
mutual support and assistance, often manage to produce effects of the greatest
significance, as much within the physical as in the moral order. The challenge,
in such cases, lies in finding and identifying there small causes and knowing
how to give them the importance they deserve. This cannot be impoverished but

The Holmes have been continuing their visit to London. They’ve
been in the British Museum; climbed Tower Bridgeand gone to the Tower of London. They have driven by
bus and by taxi and they’ve sailed through the Thames.
They are
intensive days and they are taking profit of everything when they visit these
emblematic places.
Yesterday,
the family went to the Emirates Stadium
to watch a football match between Arsenal
and FC Barcelona. TheGrandma was very happy with the final score and to celebrate it, she invited all the family to drink and dance in a
private party in 221B, Baker Street
where they were talking about Past
Perfect andsharks,
playing to guess characters and remembering Rosa’s TV
appearances.
Yesterday, The Holmesreviewed SecondConditional, Past Simple, Past Continuous, Adverbs of
Manner and Prepositions. They
took The Tube and travelled round London visiting the most important places.
They also read a little more about Charles
Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
Moreover,
they received new manuals to work PET Exam and practise Phrasal Verbs.
On Thursday, they had visited London Eye where they took lots of
photos and they continued practising Social
English and Present Perfect
Continuous.

Today, The Holmes have reviewed Present Perfect and its clues: already, just and yet. They have
been working hard with Social English
and some exercises of vocabulary.
For other
hand, the family is still in London visiting the city. Today, they have visited
M&M’s store, Camden, Portobello and Notting Hill.
The Grandma has reunited with her family again after staying some
hours unlocked in a phone box in the middle of Leicester Square and she has been talking with them about London, Paris and New York City.
Tomorrow,
the family is going to get on The Tube
and travel around the city and surroundings. Rosa wants to visit Saint Paul's Cathedral meanwhile Carmen wants to visit The Museum of the Order of Saint John, an
interesting order from Malta.
Today, The Holmes
have arrived to the UnitedKingdom. They are in London enjoying the city and
its monuments. This morning, they’ve visited The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben,
London'sEye and Westminster Abbey. It has been an incredible experience.
Later, they’ve reviewed some English grammar with Present Perfect and its clues For and Since.
Tomorrow,
they’re going to continue their trip in the city of their ancestor. They’re
preparing a visit to Scotland Yard to commemorate their famous family member.
Last
Saturday, The Holmes stayed in Belgium. They participated in the Eurovision Song Contestwhere they won
the first prize with the song “Idiot” played by Geni & NúriaHolmes.
Before this,
on Friday, they had visited Lîdje and Brugge in the Flemish Belgiumwhere they had been reviewing English, in that
case, Second Conditional, Past Simple and Prepositions of Time. Moreover, all the family decided to play Bingo and Poker and talked about ancient languages.
On Sunday, The Grandma had an introspective day
and decided to do nothing except thinking and thinking while the rest of the
family was visiting museums and important buildings. Manoli Holmes saw how her dream became real visiting Hercule, the famous detective, while Rosa Holmes was having tea with Audrey, an actress who she admires a
lot. The rest of the family were visiting some cafés and eating chocolate
without stopping, while Carmen and AsunHolmes were remembering old times in the
High School with an incredible teacher: Maria
Mercè.
Today, The Holmes have continued their English
classes reviewing Second Conditional,
Modal Verbs, Present Simple and Relative
Pronouns (Whose). It has been a
hard day for the most part of the members of this wonderful family but they’ve
done a great work, like always.
Tomorrow,
they’re going to study Perfect Tenses
and they are going to walk around London
to discover this fantastic city hometown of Peter Pan, Mary Poppins
and Harry Potter.
It
has been an honor, and I do not want to miss every single moment of it. But the
clock, it ticks. Such is the will of God.
Hercule Poirot, Curtain
Hercule Poirot
Hercule Poirot is a fictional Belgian detective, created by Agatha Christie. Poirot is one of
Christie's most famous and long-lived characters, appearing in 33 novels, one
play (Black Coffee), and more than 50 short stories published between 1920 and
1975.
Poirot's name was derived
from two other fictional detectives of the time: Marie Belloc Lowndes' Hercule
Popeau and Frank Howel Evans' Monsieur Poiret, a retired Belgian police officer
living in London.
Poirot first appeared in The
Mysterious Affair at Styles (published in 1920) and exited in Curtain
(published in 1975). Following the latter, Poirot was the only fictional
character to receive an obituary on the front page of The New York Times.
By 1930, Agatha Christie
found Poirot "insufferable", and by 1960 she felt that he was a
"detestable, bombastic, tiresome, ego-centric little creep". Yet the
public loved him and Christie refused to kill him off, claiming that it was her
duty to produce what the public liked.
Poirot passes away from
complications of a heart condition at the end of Curtain: Poirot's Last Case. He had moved his amyl nitrite pills
out of his own reach, possibly because of guilt. He thereby became the murderer
in Curtain, although it was for the
benefit of others. Poirot himself noted that he wanted to kill his victim
shortly before his own death so that he could avoid succumbing to the arrogance
of the murderer, concerned that he might come to view himself as entitled to
kill those whom he deemed necessary to eliminate.
Audrey Hepburn (4 May 1929 – 20 January 1993) was an actress and
humanitarian.
Recognised as a film and
fashion icon, Hepburn was active during Hollywood's Golden Age. She was ranked
by the American Film Institute as the third greatest female screen legend in Golden Age Hollywood and was inducted
into the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame. Born in Ixelles, a district of Brussels,
Hepburn spent her childhood between Belgium, England, and the Netherlands,
including German-occupied Arnhem during the Second World War where she worked
as a courier for the Dutch resistance and assisted with fundraising. In
Amsterdam, she studied ballet with Sonia Gaskell before moving to London in
1948 to continue her ballet training with Marie Rambert and perform as a chorus
girl in West End musical theatre productions. She spoke several languages,
including English, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, and German.
Hepburn was appointed Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF. Though
she had done work for UNICEF in the 1950s, starting in 1954 with radio
presentations, this was a much higher level of dedication. Her family said that
the thoughts of dying, helpless children consumed her for the rest of her life.
In 2002, at the United Nations Special Session on Children, UNICEF honoured
Hepburn's legacy of humanitarian work by unveiling a statue, "The Spirit of Audrey", at UNICEF's
New York headquarters. Her service for children is also recognised through the U.S. Fund for UNICEF's Audrey Hepburn
Society.
Yesterday
was a hard day for The Holmes. They
reviewed some modal verbs (Need and Can) and they wrote two Florence’s postcards to MJ. They also practised some Social English and other themes of
English grammar while The Grandma
was explaining a story about an old friend who she loves a lot and once had to
take another path in her life far away from her.
Today, the
family has continued its preparation learning some new things about Adverbs of Frequency in comparative and superlative forms; Relative Pronouns and Conditional Tense. After MJ visit, the
family has been talking about the convenience of doing the Cambridge Exam with advantages and disadvantages.
The Grandma appreciates the huge effort of her family day after
day and trust on them because she knows that they have nothing to lose and the
only possible final is success
Tomorrow, The Holmes will recycle with modal
verbs, count with their little calculators and play bingo with Luisa Holmes, the croupier, like party’s
soul. After this, the family, who is now in Lîdje, are going to travel to London where they’re going to stay some days and where The Queen, an old Grandma’s friend, is
waiting for them, in the same way, that The
Collins who are going to receive them in Downton Abbey.
Yesterday, The Holmes reviewed some aspects of
grammar and talked about adverbs of
manner. They also created a Personal
Message, discussed about job webpages and its difficulties and read a
little more of Charles Dickens’ A Carol
Christmas. The family stayed all the weekend in Venice enjoying the carnival and sailing by gondola thanks to Asun.
Today, The Holmes have reviewed The Superlatives and some modal verbs
like Must, Have to and Should.
Moreover, they’ve created a composition using this new theory and they have
worked Social English, too.
For other
hand, the family is spending its last hours in Italy. This morning they’ve visited Pisa; this afternoon Verona
and in this moment they’re having dinner in Siena.
In a few
hours, they’re flying to Belgium and
later to London. Tomorrow, the
family is going to continue its adventures. The Grandma is going to explain them some stories about numbers and
they’re going to prepare new budgets and invoices.

They also
created a song for participating in the next Eurovision Contest Song. After some moments of emotion and nerves,
the winners were Geni and Núria with the beautiful song “Idiot”.
Both of them represented Belgium.
While the
most part of The Holmes were creating their songs, Rosa was in Milano with The Grandma and Iris, an old friend of her, taking information about some new fashion
business to invest.
For other
hand, Geni must leave the family
during some days because she must attend some personal business.
The family
continues its Italian tour. After visiting Pisa,
Siena and Verona they arrived to Venice
where they are prepared to spend some beautiful moments enjoying the Carnival.
After visiting
the Pope, the Holmes have continued reviewing Past Continuous, Used to
and Modal Verbs (May-Might).
Moreover they’ve practised some Social
English.
Next, they’ve
created comparisons between Antoni Gaudí’s
Sagrada Família and Vatican City
and they’ve been talking about voodoo and its effects nowadays.
The family
arrives to Venice tonight where they
want to enjoy the Carnival during
this weekend before going to Belgium
to participate in Eurovision Song
Contest. Because of this, today, they have read some interesting songs from
Tom Jones, Queen, Suzanne Vega and Joan Baez.
Tomorrow,
they’re going to prepare excellent songs to win the festival and continue
travelling, this time, perhaps, to London.
