MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, FROM BOXING TO CONCERTS

Today, The Grandma has visited
Madison Square Garden, colloquially known as The Garden or by its initials MSG, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in New York City. It is located in Midtown Manhattan between Seventh and Eighth avenues from 31st to 33rd Street, above Pennsylvania Station.

It is the fourth venue to bear the name Madison Square Garden; the first two (1879 and 1890) were located on Madison Square, on East 26th Street and Madison Avenue, with the third Madison Square Garden (1925) farther uptown at Eighth Avenue and 50th Street.

The Garden is used for professional ice hockey and basketball, as well as boxing, concerts, ice shows, circuses, professional wrestling and other forms of sports and entertainment. It is close to other midtown Manhattan landmarks, including the Empire State Building, Koreatown, and Macy's at Herald Square.

It is home to the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL), the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA), and was home to the New York Liberty (WNBA) from 1997 to 2017.

Originally called Madison Square Garden Center, the Garden opened on February 11, 1968, and is the oldest major sporting facility in the New York metropolitan area. It is the oldest arena in the NBA and the NHL.

As of 2016, MSG is also the second-busiest music arena in the world in terms of ticket sales. Including two major renovations, its total construction cost was approximately $1.1 billion, and it has been ranked as one of the 10 most expensive stadium venues ever built. It is part of the Pennsylvania Plaza office and retail complex, named for the railway station. Several other operating entities related to the Garden share its name.

Madison Square is formed by the intersection of 5th Avenue and Broadway at 23rd Street in Manhattan. It was named after James Madison, fourth President of the United States.

Madison Square Garden sits directly atop a major transportation hub in Pennsylvania Station, featuring access to commuter rail service from the Long Island Rail Road and New Jersey Transit, as well as Amtrak. The Garden is also accessible via the New York City Subway. The A, C, and E trains stop at 8th Avenue and the 1, 2, and 3 trains at 7th Avenue in Penn Station. The Garden can also be reached from nearby Herald Square with the B, D, F, <F>, M, N, Q, R, and W trains at the 34th Street -Herald Square station as well as PATH train service from the 33rd Street station.

One night in 1974, I made the comment,
'Here I am, this fat kid, the son of a plumber.
I don't look like a body builder;
fist fight in a parking lot, it doesn't matter.
I'm getting ready to sell out this building.
I'm going to sell out Madison Square Garden one day.
This is the American Dream. I'm living it.'

THE BEANS & RICHARD CASTLE: CREATING A LINCHPIN

There's always a story - Richard Castle
The Beans continue their English classes. Today, they have studied the use of Too and Enough and the Adverbs of Manner

Moreover, they have been talking about how to create a composition with a linchpin, an internal cohesion, and they have sent some whatsapps to express their feelings about the match between the Knicks and the Bulls. The match was amazing but they were witness of a murder scene and they have been helping Kate Beckett, the best detective of New York, and Richard Castle, the writer and Beckett's partner to solve the mystery.

For one hand, the family is looking for someone who takes care of Rhini, a beautiful rhino which is going to travel with them around the world. The rest of their pets are still in the Bronx Zoo waiting to be moved to their final destinity.

After reading lots of CV's, the choosen person seems to be a young woman named Tania. Tomorrow, they have a meeting with her to exchange impressions.

The Beans in Saint Patrick's Cathedral
For another hand, The Beans have talked about poker and good and bad luck before  finishing the first chapter of Christmas Carol of Charles Dickens. They have also played some memo games and a hanger to relax a little before visiting Saint Patrick's Cathedral.

The Cathedral of St. Patrick, commonly called St. Patrick's Cathedral, is a decorated Neo-Gothic-style Roman Catholic cathedral church in the United States and a prominent landmark of New York City.

It is the seat of the archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, and a parish church, located on the east side of Fifth Avenue between 50th and 51st Streets in Midtown Manhattan, directly across the street from Rockefeller Center and specifically facing the Atlas statue. It is considered one of the most visible symbols of Roman Catholicism in New York City and the United States.

After this spiritual visit, they're ready to return to the Madison Square Garden where Billy Joel is ready to offer a great and unforgettable concert tonight.

Son, I've made my life out of readin' people's faces,
and knowin' what their cards were by the way they held their eyes.
So if you don't mind my sayin', I can see you're out of aces.
For a taste of your whiskey I'll give you some advice.

THE BEANS ADOPT A PET: COMPARING SOME OPTIONS

The Beans' pets
Today, The Beans have continued their English classes rewieving some examples of question tags in present simple and the comparative adjectives.

The Grandma has explained a story about the possible origins of Saint George and the Black Virgins and the family has thought about it in their compositions.

The day after visiting the zoo, the family has another goal to reach. They have adopted some new pets with particular characteristics and they need to find a better place from them. It's not an easy work but it's easier if you have enough money to cover their needs.

This afternoon, The Beans have visited the Brooklyn Museum. David Bowie left us in a day like today two years ago and the Museum is preparing a new exposition in his honour next March. The Grandma, who is a great fan of Bowie, still remembers his fantastic concert in the Madison Square Garden in 1997.

Past and present in the Brooklyn Museum
The Brooklyn Museum is an art museum located in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. At 560,000 52,000 m2, the museum is New York City's third largest in physical size and holds an art collection with roughly 1.5 million works.

Located near the Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, Flatbush, and Park Slope neighborhoods of Brooklyn and founded in 1895, the Beaux-Arts building, designed by McKim, Mead and White, was planned to be the largest art museum in the world.

The museum initially struggled to maintain its building and collection, only to be revitalized in the late 20th century, thanks to major renovations. Significant areas of the collection include antiquities, specifically their collection of Egyptian antiquities spanning over 3,000 years. The museum also has a Memorial Sculpture Garden which features salvaged architectural elements from throughout New York City.

In the evening, The Beans are going to watch the NBA basketball match between the New York Knicks and the Chicago Bulls in the Madison Square Garden. Edgar Bean, who is a great sportman, is very excited with this proposal because he's a great fan of Carmelo Anthony and in his opinion, the Knicks are better, more original and twenty years older than the Bulls. The Grandma still remembers those incredible nights with Pat Ewing.

Michael Jordan & Pat Ewing, the best
The Knicks are an American professional basketball team based in New York City in the borough of Manhattan. The Knicks compete in the NBA as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.

The team plays its home games at Madison Square Garden, located in the borough of Manhattan. They are one of two NBA teams located in New York City; the other is the Brooklyn Nets. The team, established by Ned Irish in 1946, was one of the founding members of the Basketball Association of America (BAA), which became the NBA after merging with the rival National Basketball League (NBL) in 1949. Along with the Boston Celtics, the Knicks are one of only two original NBA teams still located in its original city.

 Anxiety and spiritual searching
have been consistent themes with me,
and that figures into my worldview.
But I tend to make my songs
sound like relationship songs.
