In dictatorships, artists are considered dangerous enemies. They create conscience and they have the capacity to arrive to masses with their lyrics.
Freemuse, the organization that fights in defence of artistic freedom reported which countries prosecute and condemn artists to prison, attempting against free speech and artistic freedom.
The last ranking is this: Spain (14 artists), Iran (13), Turkey (9), Myanmar (8), Egypt (6), China (5) and Russia (4). It is a great shame and a strong attack to democracy, civil and human rights.
Today, The Grandma wants to pay a great tribute to all these artists who are suffering the tyrannies of their governments.

Helin Bölek (1992-April 3, 2020) was a member of the Turkish folk music band Grup Yorum.
Bölek, the daughter of a family from Diyarbakır, worked in art during her youth. She took part in Grup Yorum as a soloist. She was arrested for the first time during a police operation at the İdil Culture Center in Istanbul in November 2016, when she was detained with seven other members of the group on charges of resisting the police, insulting and being a member of a terrorist organization.

Bölek joined the hunger strike in June 2019.
She was released in November 2019 but kept on fasting. On 11 March 2020, İbrahim Gökçek and Helin Bölek were taken out to the Umraniye State Hospital after a police raid that morning at their home in Küçükarmutlu, Istanbul.
In a statement made by their lawyer Didem Ünsal, the two Grup Yorum members stated that they were taken to the hospital by ambulance and that they were admitted to the emergency room, where they declared that they did not accept intervention or treatment.
She died on April 3, 2020, on the 288th day of a hunger strike at her home in Istanbul, which was held as a means to protest against the treatment of the band by the Turkish Government led by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
After her death, large crowds mourned Helin Bölek and they began to march towards a Cemevi. The police intervened the march and detained several participants. But the crowds managed to deliver her coffin to a Cemevi. Following the crowds intended to go the cemetery but the police impeded it and again detained several participants of the ceremony. Afterward, the police transported Helin Bölek to the cemetery.

İbrahim Gökçek (1980-7 May 2020) was a musician of the Turkish band Grup Yorum. He played the bass guitar. He died on 7 May 2020 after a 323-day hunger strike, which he had ended two days before.
He was married to Sultan Gökçek, who is also a member of Grup Yorum and detained in Silivri Prison.

On 4 January 2020, he and Helin Bölek turned their hunger strike into a death fast. On 14 January 2020 the prosecution demanded a life sentence for Gökçek.
In February 2020 he was released from prison, but he stayed on hunger strike together with Helin Bölek in a house in Küçükarmutlu.
On 5 May 2020 he ended his hunger strike and was transferred to a hospital for treatment. He died on 7 May 2020.
The following day, mourners taking part in a ceremony in memory of Gökçek at an Alevi cemevi in the neighbourhood of Sultangazi were halted by the police and dispersed with teargas. The police broke down the gates to the cemevi, detained several members of Grup Yorum, and seized the coffin containing Gökçek.
