Malfoy is the surname of a wealthy pure-blood wizarding family and one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight. They live in Malfoy Manor in Wiltshire, England.
The Malfoys are related to many other pure-blood families, including the: Blacks, Lestranges, Greengrasses, and Rosiers. They are also related to the Tonks and Lupin families, of mixed wizarding and Muggle heritage, much to the Malfoys' disdain, although they are not against marrying half-bloods.
The Malfoys gained a reputation for pure-blood supremacy. During the First and Second Wizarding Wars, they supported Lord Voldemort and some members were even Death Eaters under his command.
The Malfoy family consists of an ancient line of pure-blood wizards, most of whom attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and were traditionally sorted into Slytherin House.
The family first arrived in Britain with Armand Malfoy, who founded the family estate Malfoy Manor on land obtained from King William I.
The Malfoy family would soon gain the reputation for pure-blood supremacy and courting richness and power from those around them. Until the passing of the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy in 1692, the Malfoys integrated themselves in high-class Muggle society.
Though hotly denied by subsequent generations, there is ample evidence to suggest that the first Lucius Malfoy
was an unsuccessful aspirant to the hand of Elizabeth I, and some
wizarding historians allege that the Queen's subsequent opposition to
marriage was due to a jinx placed upon her by the thwarted Malfoy.
The Malfoys expanded their already large estate with the lands of their Muggle neighbours, and dabbled successfully into Muggle currency and assets, becoming one of the wealthiest families in wizarding Britain. Though they opposed the Statute of Secrecy at first, they soon embraced it and cut off all ties with Muggle families, denying that they had ever fraternised with such people.
After this period, the Malfoys instead began to seek influence over the newly formed British Ministry of Magic, using their considerable wealth to do so. Though no Malfoy is known to have ever aspired for the position of Minister for Magic, many members of the family financed the elections of their preferred candidates for the post, even going so far as to pay to have the opposition hexed.

Draco Malfoy
Lucius Malfoy is a British pure-blood wizard, and son of Abraxas Malfoy, husband of Narcissa Black, the father of Draco Malfoy and the grandfather of Scorpius Malfoy. Lucius was educated at Hogwarts, where he was made a prefect in Slytherin House.
As an adult, Lucius was an aristocratic wizard and patriarch of the Malfoy family, believing strongly in notions of blood purity and the superiority of pure-blood wizards. He joined the Death Eaters, who shared his views on blood purity, and participated in the First Wizarding War.
After Lord Voldemort's first defeat, Lucius managed to avoid imprisonment by claiming that he had been acting under the Imperius Curse. He and his family remained members of the social elite, though Lucius continued to demonstrate his prejudice.
He attempted to sabotage Arthur Weasley's career by slipping Arthur's daughter an old school diary of Tom Riddle's, opening the Chamber of Secrets. He also participated in the humiliation of a Muggle family after the Quidditch World Cup.

When Lord Voldemort returned, Lucius once again served him as a Death Eater, leading the efforts to obtain the prophecy Lord Voldemort sought. In the battle that ensued, the prophecy was destroyed, and Lucius and his comrades were imprisoned in Azkaban.
Although Lord Voldemort broke them out of prison, he was displeased with Lucius for his failures and treated the Malfoys with much disdain and abuse.
Lucius and his family finally rebelled against Lord Voldemort's tyranny and defected before the end of the Battle of Hogwarts, with them all surviving the Second Wizarding War.
Because he and his family defected from the Death Eaters they were pardoned for their crimes after Lord Voldemort's final defeat and did not serve a stint in Azkaban.
Lucius Malfoy was born to Abraxas Malfoy. He was born into a very old, wealthy and gentry wizarding family, and raised in the lap of luxury at the family estate, a magnificent mansion in Wiltshire which had been in his family's possession for many centuries.
Lucius graduated Hogwarts, but being independently wealthy, had no need to seek employment. At some point, he married Narcissa Black; their son, and only child, Draco was born.

Lucius became one of Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters and helped wage the First Wizarding War in an attempt to bring down the Ministry of Magic. Some of his activities may have included taking the lead in the torturing of Muggles.
Lucius had a pale, pointed face, with pale blond hair and cold grey eyes. He often carried a walking stick with a snake head that contained his wand.
After spending a year in
the wizarding prison of Azkaban, possibly suffering the horrors of the
Dementors' presence, his looks suffered greatly because of it, his skin
taking on a yellowish and waxy look, and his eyes sunken and shadowed.
His voice was also quite hoarse.

After having been a victim of the Dark Lord's wrath upon Harry Potter's escape from the Manor, Lucius'
looks took a turn for the worse, as he seemed ragged, and he carried
traces of his punishment, meaning he might have looked beaten and
bruised. It is likely that his looks might have improved upon the fall
of his former Master once he returned to everyday life.
As a Death Eater, he bore the Dark Mark on his left inner forearm; this had faded to a mere scar upon Lord Voldemort's death. His son Draco resembled him strongly. I

His name could also be a reference to the Roman Emperor Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus, also known as Nero. Lucius is a name that derives from Latin meaning bright or intelligent and is related to the name Lucifer, the first name of Satan, which may reference Lucius Malfoy being bright but evil, or just evil.
Malfoy is derived from the French mal foi or mal foy, meaning bad faith or unfaithful.

Narcissa Malfoy, née Black, is an English pure-blood witch, the youngest daughter of Cygnus and Druella Black, younger sister of Bellatrix Lestrange and Andromeda Tonks, wife of Lucius Malfoy and mother of Draco Malfoy.
Although never officially a Death Eater herself, Narcissa believed in the importance of blood purity and supported her husband in following Lord Voldemort during the First and Second Wizarding Wars. This changed, however, when her husband was incarcerated in Azkaban and her son's life was put in jeopardy by Lord Voldemort.

Narcissa took necessary measures to protect her family, including lying to Lord Voldemort about Harry Potter being dead during the Battle of Hogwarts, an act which saved the Malfoys from serving time in Azkaban following the Dark Lord's defeat.
Narcissa Black was the youngest daughter of Cygnus and Druella Black, born in 1955 in the aristocratic House of Black. She had two older sisters, Bellatrix and Andromeda.
Narcissa was taught the philosophy of blood purity
from a young age and grew up prejudiced in favour of pure-bloods. Thus,
like her sister Bellatrix, she cut off contact with her sister
Andromeda after she was disowned and burned off the Black family tree
for marrying Muggle-born wizard Ted Tonks.
Narcissa was educated at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Sorted into Slytherin House, she met her future husband, Lucius Malfoy, whilst at Hogwarts.
Narcissa Malfoy was described as tall, slim, nice looking, and very pale, with blue eyes, long blonde hair, and a clear, cold voice. Her hair colouring thus differed from most of the House of Black, who generally had dark hair, though Narcissa did possess the arrogant good looks that are a common characteristic of her family.

Despite her physical differences to her sisters, Bellatrix and Andromeda, Harry Potter did describe her as resembling Bellatrix somewhat, though Narcissa was as fair as Bellatrix was dark.
Narcissa's beauty was somewhat marred by her donning an expression that suggested that she was sniffing dung whenever she was in the company of those she considered her inferiors.

Narcissa was a very proud woman who frequently displayed a haughty and disdainful attitude, looking down upon others as she believed strongly in the importance of blood purity and valued her family's wealth. Unlike many others of the House of Black, Narcissa does not appear to be named after a star or constellation.
The name Narcissa is derived from Narcissus, a beautiful but vain character in Greek mythology from which the term narcissism, which refers to vanity and elitism, is derived. The name can also be derived from the flower by the same name, also known as daffodil.
The name of the plant may also be derived from the Greek word narkoa, to numb, referring to its narcotic properties. There is also a Slytherin connection to Narcissa's name due to its association with the Narcisse snake pits.
