THEO KOJAK: IRREVERENT METHODS TO FIND THE BEANS

Lt. Kojak arriving to the scene of the accident
Lieutenant Theofilides Kojak was driving to the accident scene. The radio was on. It was always the same cassette: Maria Callas. She was singing Ave Maria. He doesn't know how was possible that voice could enchanted him in that way, especially that song, because he wasn't a religious man. Perhaps because both of them have Greek ancestors, perhaps because both of them were born in New York, perhaps because both of them had had a hard childhood or perhaps because Maria Callas is the most beautiful voice ever in opera. He admired people who have strong beliefs because they're able to suffer the worst situations and go on thanks to their incredible faith.

Lt. Kojak is a bald, dapper, New York City policeman, who was fond of Tootsie Roll Pops and of using the catchphrases, Who loves ya, baby? and Cootchie-coo! Kojak was stubborn and tenacious in his investigation of crimes and accidents and also displayed a dark, cynical wit, along with a tendency to bend the rules if it brought a criminal to justice.

When he arrived to the dock, his sergeant was talking with the paramedical services. They had attended three people: a young brown-head woman with athletic clothes, a young red-haired man who wore a football t-shirt and a middle-age man dressed in yellow and black. The sergeant explained to Lt. Kojak that the man had fallen slept after declaring his version of the accident. All the missing victims were members of the same family: The Beans. They sailed in a boat peacefully with their pet Rhini.

Last photo of The Beans taken by a tourist
The police hasn't got many evidences except a photo taken by a tourist from another boat in which appear the missing people swimming desperately before the Hudson River flow took them far away without any possibility of helping them.

A new hard day had come and this work seemed to be difficult and laborious. The rescue teams continued their tasks without success. He started to write his report.
